A little backstory

Photography kind of snuck up on me. I didn’t set out thinking I’d build a full-time business or see my name in a newspaper — I just wanted to take better photos of my kids. With all the sports, activities, and chaos that comes with parenting, I felt like I was missing too many moments. I’d snap a quick pic and feel like it didn’t do the memory justice. That’s what lit the spark — wanting to capture the real, fleeting beauty of everyday life before it slipped away.

If I’m being honest, photography has always been the thing I’ve loved. In high school, I was that girl who over-edited every photo, added song lyrics or quotes to the bottom, and uploaded them into albums titled things like “life <3.” As cringey as that sounds now, that passion never really left. Fast forward to today, and I’m still storytelling through images — just with a much stronger understanding of light, emotion, and (thankfully) less over-sharpening.

In August of 2024, I officially launched my full-time photography business, and by September, my Facebook page was up and running. I had just moved to Garrison the year before, and with encouragement from friends, family, and the community, I knew it was time to give this dream the attention it deserved. With my background in business and natural resource management — including degrees from Dickinson State University and NDSU — I brought a unique mix of creativity and structure into building something that felt true to me.

Now, I specialize in weddings, boudoir, and lifestyle sessions — all rooted in connection, confidence, and storytelling. I still enjoy shooting seniors, sports, and milestone moments, too. In fact, I’ve recently become obsessed with high-impact sports and senior portraits, the kind with dramatic lighting and intense “media day” energy. But I also set early boundaries — like not offering posed newborn sessions — because I want to give clients the very best experience, and I know when something just isn’t my zone. (Don’t worry, I’ve got great referrals.)

At the heart of it all, I’ve always wanted to be the kind of photographer who actually cares. I’ve worked with amazing people in this industry, and I’ve also seen the not-so-great sides. I knew early on I wanted my brand to feel different — more personal, more honest, more real. I want every client to walk away feeling seen and celebrated. So whether I’m capturing vows, quiet confidence, or big game-day moments, I promise to always show up as myself — with heart, hustle, and gratitude.
